Dr. Chao Fan is a researcher and educator in Geographic Information Science and Technology (GIS&T), specializing in the development and application of geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI) to address urban and environmental challenges. Her work leverages AI and machine learning to analyze and model phenomena such as wildland fire risk, urban heat islands, and urban sprawl. In her teaching, she integrates GeoAI methods across a range of GIS courses, equipping students with advanced computational skills to solve real-world spatial problems and preparing them for leadership in the evolving field of geospatial science.
