Dr. Hien Nguyen received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Sciences, VNUHCM, Vietnam, in 2008 and 2011, respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Information Technology, VNU-HCM, in 2020.

He is a Visiting Assistant Professor at at the Computer Science Department, New Mexico State University (NMSU), USA, from Aug. 2024 – May 2025. He is also currently an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Computer Science, University of Information Technology, VNU-HCM, Vietnam, from 2008.

His research interests include knowledge representation, knowledge-based systems, and knowledge engineering, especially intelligent and expert systems. He particularly interested in building knowledge bases for intelligent systems in various domains, including education, social network information, legal text retrieval, and automated problem-solving. These systems utilize structured knowledge representation to improve decision-making, learning, and automation of complex tasks, demonstrating the transformative potential of knowledge representation in artificial intelligence. His research has been supported by grants from Vietnam National University (VNU-HCM) and the Vingroup Innovation Foundation (VinIF), and the findings have been published in international journals and conferences. He also contribute to the academic community by co-chairing special sessions at international conferences.

He can be contacted at email: hiennd@uit.edu.vn, hiennd@nmsu.edu
