Dr. Lara Prihodko is the Associate Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station and Professor of Rangeland Ecology at New Mexico State University. She is a broadly trained Ecologist with a focus on interdisciplinary research combining ecology, geography, remote sensing and modelling. Dr. Prihodko’s research interests are in the area of geospatial measurement and modelling of vegetation dynamics, land surface-atmosphere interactions and the carbon cycle in arid and semi-arid systems, and the use of machine and deep learning techniques for image classification and terrestrial vegetation monitoring. She is also a collaborator on the NMSU NSF NRT Artificial Intelligence in Arid Land Agriculture (AIALA) training grant and is on the NMSU AI Council. In her current role, she provides support, coordination and leadership for research activities associated with the College of ACES at NMSU.
